AVIx - Avian Care Products

How AVIx Products Were Developed

Greg J. Harrison, DVM, Dipl ABVP-Avian and Dipl ECAMS, is probably best known as co-editor of three leading reference texts on avian medicine and surgery and as the creator of Harrison’s Bird Foods. During his 36 years as an active avian practitioner and international speaker, he sought to reduce the use of drugs in his patients by enhancing the bird’s own immune system. Along the way, he developed a practical, well bird philosophy, which translated into the creative use of unique quality remedies that really worked to boost the health of his patients.
Zoological Education Network (ZEN) is proud to make some of these remedies available with a product line called AVIx.

AVIx
Bird Rain™

A Natural Bird Bath
Topical. Hold spray several inches from the bird and apply a fine mist as needed. Provides a one-step approach to bathing (no need to rinse); acceptable for daily use. A convenient all-natural bath, this spray helps revitalize skin and feathers that have lost normal moisture due to dry, indoor environments. It brings out the natural luster of feathers and decreases dander and feather dust.
AVIx Sunshine Factor™
A Natural Food Source
Oral. Sunshine Factor is semisolid at room temperature. To liquefy, place bottle in warm water (about 80°F [27°C]) for a few minutes. Combine 1 teaspoon (5 ml) of the liquefied Sunshine Factor with 1 pound (0.45 kg) of the animal’s consumable food (not seeds) in a mixing bowl and stir. Return the food mixture to its original bag for storage. Or, give the bird 1-3 drops orally per 100 grams body weight per day as recommended by your veterinarian. 100% Brazilian certified organic dende (red palm fruit) oil. This fatty acid supplement comes from a miniature palm tree, which is a natural food source for parrots in the wild. For use in all birds with dry flaky skin, balding feet and lack of sheen and improper color in feathers. It is especially beneficial in older birds. It may also help reduce feather picking.
AVIx Booster™
A Natural Elixir

Oral. AVIx Booster is semisolid at room temperature. To liquefy, place bottle in hot water (about 110°F [43°C]) for a few minutes. Give your bird 1 drop orally per 100 grams body weight, not to exceed 3 drops. Continue use until normal body immune function is achieved or as directed by your
veterinarian.
